On November 29th Syn is putting on one of our most exciting Hennessy Artistry sessions to date, a collaboration between Japan’s hip-hop godfather DJ KRUSH and experimental jazz legends Bill Laswell and Nils Petter Molvaer. The freeform session guarantees a one of a kind experience that will appeal to a broad spectrum of music tastes, from jazz and soul to hip-hop and dub. Be sure to catch the action, events like these don’t come twice!
Last Thursday, Syn Create visited the much anticipated Veuve Clicquot Yellow Summer Party at Ba-tsu Art Gallery in Harajuku.
The beach theme included white sand, barefoot guests, and large yellow parasols throughout the space, while the upstairs area included lounge chairs and a mural by the artist KEEDA.
The relaxed beach theme in the middle of bustling Tokyo called for an interesting juxtaposition that was both different and refreshing.
There is a fantastic G-Star street event today and tomorrow that Syn is coordinating.
Come down and check out the G-No parade and enter the style battle contest and try on a pair of Arc pants.
Most of the style battlers chose to swap out their own pants for the G-Star ARC pants, and it was interesting to see the denim’s versatility on each contestant.
The G-no parade proved to be a great eye catcher both in Shibuya and Harajuku.
They were accompanied by a balloon man who gave out G-Star balloons to passerbys, and flyer boys decked out in G-Star clothes.
As many people know, Syn is involved in music and PR in many different ways. As one of our Syn create jobs, we are currently involved in the promotion of an independent record label/live promoter based in Tokyo called “contrarede”. Everyone at contrarede have different music backgrounds but what’s common with all members is that they all have the eyes, ears, taste and passion for music. They release great records and organize amazing tours. They have only been around approximately 3 years, but they already have made many legends. Not only do they have the antenna for good new music and live acts, they surprise people by bringing over unexpected legends such as Kool Keith and The Raincoats. And again, contrarede has created another legend show - the “4AD Evening”.
From 1/22 - 1/27, contrarede did a big 4AD tour with Blonde Redhead, Deerhunter, and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and Syn create staff was in charge of attending Blonde Redhead for the whole tour.
For those who are not familiar with 4AD, 4AD is a British independent record label that started in 1979 and has maintained to be one of the best independent labels around the world. 4AD artists include, Deerhunter, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, The Big Pink, Blonde Redhead, Bon Iver, Camera Obscura, The Nationals and more. Amazing label with the great artists.
The 4AD tour started with “contrarede presents 4AD Evening” with Blonde Redhead, Deerhunter, and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti all in one night for Tokyo and Osaka. Ohhh, what a perfect lineup! (Big thumbs up to contrarede!) And it was followed with the three band’s solo shows in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.
For many people, being able to see these three bands in one night was probably a dream come true. The tickets for both Tokyo and Osaka were sold out.

All three bands were amazing live and the 4AD Evening was definitely an epic night.
Although the music industry has been facing difficult era, this is the kind of occasion when we realize how much music means to everyone and how much energy it has. Important for both consumers and providers.
It’s Syn’s 20th anniversary this year and we hope to keep being passionate about our music business just like we were 20 years ago!
